What you’ll do
Open studio at the pottery provides a space and an instructor on hand: hand building, slump mold, and more. Three pottery wheels are available. Beginner through advanced potters are welcome. Instruction in hand building and sculpting — using your hands to shape, carve, coil, or mold your clay into beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces. Safety, use and care of materials, supplies, and the slab roller; applications of underglaze and glazes; wax resist, iron oxide, bas relief, sgraffito, making a template — the list is endless! Make a platter, bowl, or mug your first class. Perhaps all three!
Gather a few leaves to imprint on slab-rolled clay. Afterward we will patch them together to make a bowl! On November 3 we will glaze.
What to bring
A desire to learn and a vision to create something beautiful. Clay is available at the studio for $30 per 25-pound block.
